Why I recommend the Layer Iris Stamp Set

Let's face it, there are a million stamp sets out there from tons of stamp companies. Even I have a hard time picking what I want to buy. How and why did I pick this one stamp set for the easy card making projects? Here are a few of the reasons:

Easy Card Making Ideas Layering Stamp Set

The main reason for making a card is to give it to someone special, right? This stamp set has three generic sentiments that make it perfect for any occasion. They are "Hello friend", "You are one to admire", and "I smile a little brighter because of you".

Flowers are great for cards and can be either feminine or masculine. Just change the ink colors for the desired look.

You might look at this and think, "Layering is advanced. I can't do that!" Yes, some laying is advanced. But this stamp set isn't. First of all, it is very easy to layer the flowers, stems, and leaves using a clear block. Second of all, layering looks advanced. Putting different colors together on one image looks a lot more difficult than it is. Trust me, your friends will be impressed!

Why I Recommend the Layering Poinsettia Ink Cubes

Just like stamp sets, there are a lot of inks out there. You want to use a high quality ink but it takes time to build up your ink pad supply. Here are some reasons I recommend these ink cubes:

Hero Arts is a very good brand and these are high quality inks. This is important if you want clean, script images.

Don't let the Christmas name fool you. These colors are great for layering and go really well together. Each color is also beautiful on it's own.

The Cube Advantage

Ink cubes are less expensive than regular size ink pads but they are just as good. You can re-ink them and they will last a long time. Ink cubes are also great for different techniques. (Hint...I use one of these ink cube techniques on the third card!)

Easy Card Making Ideas Video Tutorial

In this video, I explain step-by-step how to create each card using the supplies in the printable list below.

Card Number One

The first card is a one layer card. A one layer card is exactly that...a card with only one layer! You take a piece of card stock, cut at 5-1/2 " x 8-1/2" and either fold it in half or score it at 4-1/4". That's your one layer that you stamp on. It sounds easy, but because you are just creating on the card base, you need to create enough interest with your images and embelliments so it isn't boring.

I started with this card so you could learn the layering technique. This stamp set is great for a beginner to learn this impressive technique.

Card Number Two

This card has 3 layers all together so you will need some type of adhesive like a tape runner or liquid glue.

This card demonstrates a way you can stretch your stamps by using some of the stamps in different ways. I took the stem of the flower to create a unique background. Also, by only using the outline of the flower, I created a completely different look.

Card Number Three

This card is a two layer card where I introduce a fun new technique.

You don't always have to use stamps with your ink pads. Turn your ink cubes upside down and drag them accrues the paper for a different look. I call this the ink to paper technique!

You can make all of the cards and many more with just a few inexpensive products. If you are a beginning stampers, it is wise to invest in high quality products, a little at a time. Card making is an awesome hobby! Take the time to learn new techniques and just have fun. There are plenty of great card making ideas out there for you to get inspiration from.
